Stories from Ancient Greek literature mention stuffed vine leaves (warak arich) as a dish served to the gods of Mount Olympus alongside ambrosia and nectar. While some references report that Alexander the Great spread vine leaves to different regions he conquered, other sources credit the Ottomans for spreading them to Central and Eastern Europe in the 14th and 15th centuries.
Kanz Gourmet vine leaves are 100% natural, sealed the traditional way with salty water to preserve the flavour. They are handpicked with care every year during springtime. Vine leaves, a popular staple of healthy Mediterranean cuisine, are rich in vitamins and minerals. Widely used in Middle Eastern cuisine, vine leaves are usually stuffed with rice and minced meat, or simply with chickpeas, rice, and herbs for the vegan-vegetarian version.
