Onyx Tray

This carved onyx decorative tray comes from a quarry in Egypt’s Minya governorate, which has since been closed. Completed by the decorative bowl which is also available, this is a unique and rare piece which you won’t easily find elsewhere. 

Onyx is a silicate that has been used in Ancient Egypt since at least the Second Dynasty (approx. 2890 – 2686 BCE), directly linking these ancient pieces with far-removed chapters of human history.
