Description
Lebanon is yet again enduring unspeakable hardships. Roughly a million or a fifth of the Lebanese population have been forced to evacuate their homes — leaving large parts of South Lebanon and South Beirut abandoned.
While many people sleep on the streets — due to a lack of available spaces and financial means — their homes are being bombed in a new military campaign aimed at permanently displacing these internal refugees.
This is the third year of war which began in October 2023 and never ended — despite the proclamation of a ceasefire. Since then, Lebanon has been under daily Israeli bombardment, including the forbidden use of white phosphorus bombs which cause everything in proximity (including human flesh) to catch fire and so-called "bunker buster" bombs which detonate after penetrating up to 30 m into the ground and vaporise everything within that radius.
Bombing targets include private homes, schools, hospitals, rescuers, journalists, sites of prayer, graveyards — all of which are protected by intentional war law. Ecocide is being committed too through large-scale sprayings of pesticides and burnings of agricultural lands.
Many parts of Beirut and South Lebanon lie in ruins, thousands of Lebanese citizens are martyred or mutilated, countless olive groves and agricultural land are scorched and tens of thousands have lost their homes.
The Lebanese Red Cross, which has worked tirelessly all throughout the horrors of war and has suffered important losses among staff and volunteers, continues to need our support.
To help the Red Cross overcome recent tragedies and get back on its feet, Shababik continues to donate 5 € from every purchased bag to the Lebanese Red Cross.
Thank you for you support!
Our first Shababik totebag pays tribute to Lebanon and was created in collaboration of our dear friend Anna Rother.
