Description

Mezza are small dishes (similar to tapas) that are served for festive occasions before the main dish. They can be anything from hommos and mouttabal to stuffed vine leaves, pastries or little sausages. They are served in bowls of various sizes and are shared with everybody at the table.

These colourful mezza bowls are handmade by one of the last potters in the Lebanese Chouf region with clay from his own land. They are then glazed by various artists in Beirut.

Available in six lovely colours and four different sizes.

Note: Due to the handmade nature of this item, variations in size, shape and colour are to be expected.

More information

Maladroit is a Lebanese social enterprise whose goal is to empower ceramists, mainly by promoting the use of locally sourced clay.

All Maladroit potteries are handmade in the Chouf region of Lebanon — once a thriving regional hub for pottery — with autochthonous clay. Maladroit helps local potters to sell and market their products both nationally and internationally, and in doing so, contributes to keeping this ancient business alive in the region.

On the other hand, Maladroit actively works on training future potter generations and democratising ceramics by offering fairly-priced workshops on hand-building techniques with local clay — which is more affordable than imported alternatives. Despite occasional impurities, they achieve a 95% success rate with their pieces.
